[Transportation] DRIVING IN KOREA Yongin Driver’s License Examination Office: Renewal, Reissue & English License Guide

🚗 [DRIVING IN KOREA] Yongin Driver’s License Examination Office: Renewal, Reissue & English License Guide 🇰🇷

If you live in Korea and need to renew, replace, exchange, or update your Korean driver’s license, the Yongin Driver’s License Examination Office (용인운전면허시험장) is one of the main licensing centers serving Yongin and the southern Gyeonggi area.

For international residents, long-term visitors, expats, and travelers preparing to drive overseas, this office is especially useful because several driver’s-license services can be handled in one location.

📍 Address: 2267 Yonggu-daero, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
📞 Yongin Office: 031-289-0100
☎️ Korea Road Traffic Authority Customer Center: 1577-1120
🕘 Typical weekday hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00–18:00
🚇 Nearest Subway: Singal Station (신갈역), Suin-Bundang Line
🚶 The office is within walking distance of Singal Station.

The Korea Road Traffic Authority recommends checking the latest schedule before visiting because testing schedules, holiday operations, special Saturday services, and individual licensing procedures can change.

🚗 What Can You Do at the Yongin Driver’s License Examination Office?

The Yongin office is not only a place for taking a driving test.

Visitors may come here for services such as:

🚘 Driver’s license renewal
👁️ Driver aptitude examination
🪪 Lost or damaged license replacement
🌎 English driver’s license issuance
✈️ International Driving Permit applications
🌐 Foreign driver’s license exchange procedures
📱 IC mobile driver’s license issuance
📝 Written driving tests
🚙 Driving skill and road tests
♿ Certain special or periodic driver aptitude examinations

Inside the main civil-service hall, visitors take a queue number and wait for their number to appear on the electronic display.

There are multiple service counters, and international or foreign-license-related services may be handled through designated counters.

The waiting hall is relatively large, but renewal periods and busy seasons can create long queues, so arriving earlier in the day can make the process easier.

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT: Bring Your Physical Driver’s License When Renewing

This is one of the easiest details to overlook.

When visiting the office for a driver’s license renewal or aptitude-test renewal, bring your current physical Korean driver’s license with you.

The official Korea Road Traffic Authority guidance lists the existing driver’s license as a required item. If the license has been lost, another acceptable identification document can be used.

However, there is an important practical point:

👉 If you cannot present and return your existing physical driver’s license because it has been lost, the counter may need to process the case as a lost-license reissue together with the renewal procedure.

That means you should be prepared to pay the applicable license reissuance fee.

So even if you have:

📱 a mobile driver’s license,
📷 a photo of your old license, or
🪪 another form of identification,

do not assume this automatically replaces the physical card for every renewal procedure.

If you still possess your old license, bring the actual card.

If the physical license has genuinely been lost, tell the staff when you take your queue number or reach the counter.

Under the current official fee schedule, replacement fees are:

💳 Standard physical license: KRW 10,000
📱 IC Mobile Driver’s License: KRW 15,000

The Korea Road Traffic Authority states that a lost license can be reissued using another valid ID, and a new photograph is generally not required solely for a standard lost-license reissue.
